Market
For the first time, Volkswagen Autoeuropa produces a vehicle not only for the European market but also to USA, Canada and Japan. The main market is USA followed by Germany and United Kingdom.
Special Characteristics
Eos shows clearly that was conceived from the start to be a cabrio-coupé, unlike other models that were adapted to the convertible shape. This model has four seats and rigid retractile roof with an incorporated open roof.
The roof system was developed in partnership with Webasto, a company specialized in these type of systems that has settled a new plant inside Volkswagen Autoeuropa’s Industrial Park.
Eos is equipped with an innovative roof system, divided in five sections, which includes a worldwide exclusive glass open roof with a CSC system which allows the roof to open and close in only 25 seconds.
Eos is equipped with a protection system in case it rolls over – protection bars – placed behind the head supports which is activated 0,25 seconds after the systems detects a transversal acceleration higher to the limit planned. In case it rolls over, the magnetic switch is activated by the airbags control system and releases the element of bar fixation, offering an excellent protection of the occupants.

Volkswagen chose for assembling as standard equipment, in Eos, new side double airbags for head and thorax protection. During the collision, the new airbags open horizontally and vertically to cover the entire window. These airbags produce the same effect of the airbags for the head and has a side curtain of the vehicles without roof.
Having in mind Eos unique characteristics – convertible and coupé simultaneously – the Climatronic automatic air conditioning system (standard equipment) was redesigned in comparison to the conventional models. Therefore this system regulates its functioning depending whether the roof is closed or opened. The information about the functioning are stored in the electronic management system and are activated depending on the use mode, convertible or coupé.
For the first time, Volkswagen resorts to an electronic control system for the folding of the front seats (easy-entry), which memorizes the position chosen by the driver and passenger.
